Hitachi Gigabit Router GR2000 Series Enhanced Version Operations - Device Management Overview
7-94 GR2K-GA-0015
Ver. 07-02
7.14 Communication failure in SNMP
7.14.1 When You Cannot Obtain MIB Properly from SNMP Manager
Confirm the following:
1. Execute the configuration definition command (CLI type 1), show snmp, (See
"GR2000 Configuration Commands, Vol.2)", and check if information on the
SNMP manager is registered in the configuration definition information of the
unit.
If the information is not registered, execute the configuration definition command
(CLI Type 1), snmp, and define the information in the SNMP manager.
2. When the configuration information is defined correctly but a timeout occurs in
response to the request from the SNMP manager, set the response time on the
SNMP manager side to at least 5 seconds. Set the response time to a longer value
under the following conditions when the network response is slow (the line speed
between the SNMP manager and this router is low, or lots of devices exist
between the SNMP manager and this router).
3. When the response time is appropriate but you still cannot obtain MIBs properly,
there is a possibility that the SNMP frames are filtered (discarded) somewhere
between the SNMP manager and this router. Check your network administrator
to see if filtering is performed on SNMP frames. (SNMP frame transmission uses
the UDP frame with the port number 161.)
7.14.2 Trap cannot be received by the SNMP manager
Confirm the following:
1. Execute the configuration definition command (CLI type 1), show snmp, (See
"GR2000 Configuration Commands, Vol.2)", and check if information on the
SNMP manager and Trap are registered in the configuration definition
information of the unit.
If the information is not registered, execute the configuration definition command
(CLI Type 1), snmp, and define the information in the SNMP manager and Trap.
Indicates community name of regis-
tered SNMP manager.
Indicates IP address of registered
SNMP manager.
