Hitachi Gigabit Router GR2000 Series Enhanced Version Operations - Device Management Overview
Appendix-2 GR2K-GA-0015
Ver. 07-02
Appendix A - Explanation of terms
< Alphabet >
A
APS (Automatic Protection Switching)
Line redundancy configuration supported by the device. 1 standby line is
established for each existing line and traffic also passes constantly through the
standby lines. Even if a failure occurs in the opposing device or on the transmission
route, the line switches over immediately and the route is secured. Since traffic also
passes through standby lines in advance, there is no need for switchover on the send
side and only the line on the receive side is switched.
ARP (Address Resolution Protocol)
A transmission protocol used on IPv4 networks.
AS (Autonomous System)
Indicates an independent network system activated by a single management
authority.
ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode)
Asynchronous transfer mode.
Area border router
A router that belongs to multiple areas. Individual route selection is executed for all
areas to which it belongs.
As boundary router
A router that introduces AS external routes in the OSPF using OSPF.
B
BGP speaker
Route activated by BGP
BGP4+ speaker
Route activated by BGP4+
BGP4+ÅiMultiprotocol Extensions for Border Gateway Protocol - version 4Åj
Route control protocol used in IPv6 networks
BGP4 (Border Gateway Protocol - version 4)
Route control protocol used in IPv4 networks
BOD (Bandwidth on Demand) function
A function that adds line bandwidth by ISDN line and distributes traffic if the
bandwidth of commonly used lines is inadequate. It can also be thought of an
overload function.
